This site is owned by a collective of California-licensed therapists. Members pay a flat fee to be listed. That sentence is our entire business model, so here is exactly what it does and doesn't buy.
We will
Confirm availability monthly. Every listed therapist confirms they have openings. Miss two consecutive monthly confirmations and the listing is hidden automatically — no exceptions, including for founding members.
Show the price on every profile. Standard fee, sliding-scale floor if offered, insurance accepted, superbills yes or no.
Compute every ranking. Search results come from your filters and availability data. Guides include therapists by computed criteria only.
Source every claim — and add clinicians' names as the collective grows. Today, every consumer guide carries numbered sources you can check, and legal or insurance claims cite the actual code section. As licensed members join, guides will additionally carry a named California-licensed reviewer with license number and review date — and we won't claim that before it's true.
We won't
Sell placement. Membership buys a listing, never a position. There is no "featured," no "sponsored," no way to pay for rank. (California Business & Professions Code §650 requires this of a directory like ours; we'd hold to it anyway.)
Run ads, or sell or share your data. No ad pixels, no data sold, no advertising use — ever. We do use two measurement tools (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) to understand aggregate usage and fix what's broken, with three hard limits: they are configured without ad-personalization signals; they never load on the self-check tool or the crisis page, so answers there cannot be observed by anyone including us; and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, no measurement loads at all.
Publish testimonials about therapists. California therapy ethics prohibit them, and they'd be the easiest thing to fake. Structured facts instead: fees, licenses, reply times, confirmed availability.
Require an account. Browse, search, read, and use every tool without telling us who you are. Self-check tools store nothing server-side.
Recommend a specific therapist. We show you who matches your filters and let you decide. Nobody on staff steers you to anybody.
If we ever break one of these, we expect to be called on it publicly. The whole point of writing them down is that you can.
