You don't need the right words. "Work stress" is a fully valid entry ticket — where it goes from there is the therapist's job, and anger, numbness, and "I just don't feel much" are all workable starting materials. The question, asked plainly
Q: What actually happens if I say the dark stuff out loud? A: A conversation, not an intervention. Saying "sometimes I think everyone would be better off without me" gets you a therapist asking careful questions and building a plan with you — not a report, not handcuffs →. Saying nothing is the only version with no move on the board. If it's tonight and it's heavy: 988, call or text. The counselor has heard it before, from men exactly like you.
